LOCATION

Mo:Dem SA is located at Du Kloof Lodge, Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa.  Just 1 hour drive from Cape Town city centre.

HOW TO GET THERE?

If you’re driving and you have a spare space in your vehicle, think about offering a ride to a fellow Modemhead.

Currently we are not offering festival shuttles to the location, however an Uber taxi from Cape Town costs approximately from R400 – R700 (20€ – 35€)  depending on the type of Uber you choose.

VISAS FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Below is a list of countries which are exempt from visas in South Africa.

If you do require a visa please be sure to apply within a reasonable time before the event.

GATES OPEN & MUSIC START

Gates open at 12h00 on Friday 22nd November and close at 14h00 on Sunday 24th November 2024.

The gates are open 24hrs.
Please do not arrive before gate opening times, you will not be allowed entrance.

Music starts in the evening on Friday and ends in the evening on Sunday.
Everybody needs to leave the venue by 10h00 on Monday the 25th of November.

LOCKERS

Currently we do not have lockers available for rent for the event.

PARKING

Parking is extremely limited, please carpool!
Parking levy will be charged : R100 for 2 ppl or less / R50 for 3 ppl / R0 for 4 ppl or more.
Card payments only.

We have a designated parking area for all vehicles. Upon arrival you will receive accreditation at the gate entrance, then be directed to the designated parking area.
You cannot camp next to your car. Camping is separate from the parking area.

Car parking will be made possible only to visitors with a valid festival ticket.

Vehicles are parked entirely at the owner’s risk.

Any vehicle left on site past the given deadline will be removed and scrapped. All reasonable efforts will be made by Mo:Dem Festival to locate the owner and remove the vehicle before this takes place.

Mo:Dem Festival accepts no liability for costs incurred in the process of removal and disposal of vehicles. If a vehicle is stored beyond a given deadline, to facilitate collection any associated costs will be passed on to the legal owner.

CAMPING

You cannot camp next to your car. Camping is separate from the parking area.

Camping will be made possible only to visitors with a valid festival ticket. Camping is allowed only in the designated camping area through the duration of the festival.

It is forbidden to set up tents outside of the fenced area of the camp or restricted areas of the festival camp.

Unregistered people and anyone without a valid festival camping wristband cannot enter the festival campsite and campers are not allowed to escort such individuals onto the festival campsite.

CARAVANS & CAMPERVANS

We have a designated campervan area, however space is very limited. Please email us if you plan to bring one – info.modemsa@modemfestival.com

Once you receive your accreditation at the gate you will be directed to the designated campervan area.

There is no extra charge for bringing your camper and no electricity is provided generators are not allowed.

No tents may be erected in the campervan parking areas for fire safety reasons. Stewards will park you in position, please follow their direction and keep fire lanes clear.

No trading is permitted from caravans or camper vans.

Toilets are provided in the campervan parking areas and we recommend that attendees use these toilets rather than their own chemical toilets. If you are using your own chemical toilet, please note you must take the waste away with you. There are no facilities for accepting chemical waste and it must not be poured into the compost toilets. It is illegal to pour this waste onto the ground, into a sump or stream and anyone found doing this will be evicted from site and face a fine from the Environment Agency.

Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate campervans / caravans in your preferred caravan parking area, Mo:Dem SA reserves the right to provide alternative facilities if deemed necessary or in the event of adverse conditions.

PRIVATE BEDOUIN TENTS

As camping is extremely limited we don’t allow private bedouin tents to be set up.

CURRENCY & EXCHANGE / CASH & CARD

The currency that is used during the festival is South African Rands.

The bar will only be accepting card payments. Restaurants and shops accept cash and cards.

There are no exchange offices on the festival grounds. However there are ATMs in the nearby town called Paarl which is a 20 min drive.

LOCAL MARKET / NEARBY SHOPS / ATM

The closest town is Paarl, where they have shops, gas stations and ATMs available. You can go by car.

At the festival location there will be restaurants and clothing, jewellery, arts and crafts shops.

INTERNET & PHONE CONNECTION

Unfortunately there are no wifi hotspots at the festival location, cell phone reception is extremely limited and hard to find.

It depends on your service provider (MTN and CELL C are better than Vodacom). Please make sure your family and friends are aware so they don’t worry.

WEATHER

Expect hot days and cooler nights. Bring warm clothes and a jacket for the night time.

There is a river to swim in so bring your swimming costume too.

FIRES & GAS COOKERS

It is strictly forbidden to build fires or barbecues anywhere on festival grounds and parking lots.

Small, portable camping gas cookers are allowed. Please do not leave it unmonitored.

DRINKING WATER

Provided for free at designated areas across the festival site. Drinking water points are marked on our festival map.

FIRST AID

Look after yourselves and each other. In the event of an emergency do not hesitate to call for help. We have a First Aid point inside the main building. Alternatively anyone with a radio is on duty and able to assist.

PERSONAL HYGIENE

We are all responsible for our own personal hygiene. All efforts are made by the organisation to provide you with the necessary tools for you to care for yourself. Washing you hands and having regular showers is the 1st step to personal wellbeing and health.

ECOLOGY & WASTE

A conscious community is responsible for the natural environment. Clean up after yourself and leave this place in the same or a better state than how you found it. Please use rubbish bags. Nature is no place for rubbish and should not be used as a toilet.

KIDS & REGISTRATION

Kids under 14 are allowed in for free and need to be accompanied by at least one parent or a legal guardian.

AGE POLICY

Anyone under 18 who would like to attend the festival needs to be accompanied by their parent/s or legal guardian.

ANIMALS

Dogs are not allowed. It is a very hot time of year and we believe the festival environment is not suitable for dogs.

GLASS

No glass is allowed at the festival location. Please decant into plastic bottles before arriving.

LOST PROPERTY

After the event lost property will be posted to the Facebook event page.
